In the House

So, about the office. I don't want to drop 15k+ on shelves. Plus, who knows if built in shelves in the master bedroom where most people sleep will be good for resale. Here's what I am thinking.

INSPIRATION
My friend Jake has a similar setup. It would out nicely if someone comes into the office to play games as well. I like the idea a lot. [ Chris Cushingham House Tour ]

SHELVES ( Tan on the Mockup Below )
Expedit Shelves x 4 in Black

I would line both of these up on either side of the walls ( and mount them to the walls ). They're pretty sturdy for IKEA shelves and they're thick. I'd consider hanging pictures above them as they are only 72" tall and the walls are 111" tall.

DESK ( Blue in the Mockup Above )
Bedford Project Table - A nice tall desk with storage in the supports. Hopefully I can turn them inward in order to accommodate some cable / device storage.
Bedford Tech Hutch - I needed a hutch to place the projector on and this one has plugs and a USB hub built in. Bonus.

FUTON ( Black in the Mockup Above )
Goodwin Sleeper ( Twin ) - I picked this particular couch due to its comparative size to the desk. Most sleep sofas are 72" - 74" wide and that's just way too big for the space. I also have no idea what color I wanna aim for. Maybe something to match the grey green of the walls.

The Desk and the Futon will be touching. I am going to work it out a projector screen above the closet that will pull down. I can work at the desk and still project things onto the screen.

CURTAINS
I'd like to do venetian blinds on the window, but I think it would be awesome to have some big heavy nice curtains that I can let down to make it dark or pull them back to let in the light.

  1. Is it just me, or is there a room (in the upper right) with what seems to be a bathtub in it, all by itself, with no way to enter or exit the room. Is it some kind of... hidden bathing closet?

  2. Hahahah. I stopped making that bathroom as there were other MORE IMPORTANT rooms to fill out. Sorry Curtis.
