So I have a horrible weakness for certain types of J-RPGs. Final Fantasy jumped ship years ago. Dragon Warrior never did or for me. But what brought me back kicking and screaming? Atlas.
Persona 3 was the first. Then Persona 3 FES, then Person 4, and now most recently: P3P: Persona 3 Portable.
It's not just an RPG, it's sort of a life sim. You're a teenager. You go to school. You hang out with friends. You date girls. OH! Did I mention you battle demons? Yeah. It's ridiculous. Mind you, when P3 first came out I disappeared for a month or so. Likewise when P4 came out I was also absent. That around the time when I had a falling out with a couple of my friends so I didn't lose too much sleep over it. I did however lose a lot of sleep playing this game.
Another thing about this game that sort of hooked me was the music. I have a problem. It's called JPop. It doesn't go well with this whole "I listen to metal" thing I have going on here. Regardless, the soundtracks for both are addictive. This is not by any means good music, but I love it.
What prompted this entire post? Why am I going through all of this time to write it all out? Well, Persona 3 Portable came out. With it, new music, new characters, a new female main character to play. Oh good. Time I don't have sitting around is going to be sucked into this vortex.
I've already downloaded the female lead character's NEW soundtrack, and while going through some threads on the differences of the game I stumble upon THIS. Yes, Japan, you're all assholes. Every single one of you. Not only do I have 3 albums based on this video game franchise, NOW I NEED A FUCKING LIVE ALBUM.
Ok, I'm done now, I just felt like it needed to be said.
I'm not a giant nerd am I? Fuck.
Cheers,
Eric
